Is There a Poison Oak Cure?
When we talk about a poison oak cure, we are talking mainly about a treatment aimed at relieving the symptoms of a poison oak rash: itching and blistering. Since this is an allergic reaction, doctors have not yet found a way to heal the area before the natural healing process finishes, a process that usually takes about 2 weeks, but which can extend to over a month in severe cases.
The normal poison oak cures include applying cool temperature on the affected areas of the skin, and using calamine lotion to relieve the itching, but there are also some home treatments widely used meant to also alleviate the itching and help unhealthy skin fall off after drying.
Beware of bogus home treatments. Some people advice using bleach to cure poison oak, but following this advice can even lead to worsening the condition.
