A lot of addicts will find that they are pretty nervous about entering rehab for the first time.  This is understandable because the mere idea of it threatens their using. For me that was the way that I learned how to cope with my fears.

If you happen to be struggling with smoking heroin addiction there are a couple of things one can do to solve of their problem.  No single solution is easier or better than the others and from my experience there are no such things as shortcuts, basically it’s just a matter of finding out what works for the person and then applying that solution in your life.

Outpatient therapy – is a lot like in patient treatment but the addict goes home to sleep each night, then returns back during the day for more groups and therapy.  This way is a lot less expensive; however, it is much more dangerous in terms of smoking heroin relapse. One reason for this is the easy access to drugs so this is the obvious difference here between inpatient and outpatient rehab.  With outpatient, you give up the protected environment in order to save money.

Addiction therapy – Some people are scared of groups, and a lot of recovery is based on meetings and group therapy. The solution for some may be individual counseling.  In my opinion, it is rare to see success with this type of treatment only. If this is the case, then a better solution would be for the addict to push past their fear and get some exposure to groups, even though this is not the solution that they will want to hear.  But in extreme cases, this will be enough for the addict to get to the bottom or their addiction and may in fact work for them.
