Black Mold Removal: Mold Can Be Hazardous To Your Health

Stachybotrys Chartarum is a toxic organism that is found in damp or flooded homes and more commonly outdoors. It is in the basement, bathroom or kitchens that the organism finds the constant moisture that it needs to survive. Black mold removal is important to prevent problems such as headaches, coughing, asthma, nausea, bronchitis, and memory loss. It can cause respiratory bleeding which may be fatal to infants.

Removing this dangerous growth quickly is important to your health. Proper safeguards must be in place even while you are removing the growth to avoid breathing in any spores. Wear gloves and a protective mask while cleaning and dispose of cleaning materials completely in a trash receptacle other than in your building.

Before doing anything else, don the mask and gloves. Covering furniture, flooring and appliances with disposable tarps or plastic will help to protect against deposits of spores elsewhere in the room. Mist all surfaces to be cleaned with water to reduce the danger of airborne spores. When preparing to get rid of mold, you should begin by identifying the source of the mold. Unless all the spores are removed, they can come back.

A bleach solution will kill external spores and obvious mold growth, but will not reach the hidden spores. Mold kill products are expensive, but effective. You can choose to use some of the non-toxin products to kill the mold. Some products can be left on the surface, others must be rinsed off.

Once the cleaning process is completed, all the gloves, masks and other such products should be placed in a covered outdoor receptacle. Don’t store this type of trash indoors. A dehumidifier should be used in areas where the humidity is high to prevent further mold outbreaks.

When the black mold removal process is complete, repair leaks, install fans and seal cracks that provide moisture to feed the mold. Remove the source of the moisture in your home. Don’t take chances with your health by breaking in the dangerous toxins.
