Car Accident Claim Problems
There are a myriad of different problems that you can run across when you’re settling auto accident claims. While there are a lot of potential problems, there’s usually one fix to make sure that you don’t succumb to them, make sure that you collect and keep all the information that you’ve been given in response to the accident. By doing this, you can prevent most of the problems that are outlined below.
The first problem that many people run into is a lack of information about the accident. Immediately after an accident, make sure that you exchange names and phone numbers with the other driver. Also make sure to write down his license plate, and keep all the information in a safe place where you will not lose it. If you can’t locate the other driver or his insurance company, it’s going to be very hard to collect money for your accident.
The next big error that people make is that they don’t contact their insurance company immediately after the accident. Even if you’re not at fault, you should still make sure that your insurance company is aware of the damage to your car. Especially if you have collision insurance, your company will work to make sure that you aren’t given a degree of fault for the accident.
Finally, many people are also simply not prepared at any point during the claims process. This results in problems such as slightly conflicting stories when the insurance company calls you to talk about your case. Even if the stories you tell the insurance company don’t conflict in meaningful details, conflicts in the details could be used against you. Make sure this doesn’t happen by being prepared and writing down the story immediately after the accident.
