Wall Hung Toilet Repair
Installing a wall-hung toilet can offer you an improved appearance of your bathroom. It will also take up less space and make the bathroom easier to clean. However, it is more expensive to purchase and repair parts are costlier. Additionally, many walls are not designed to handle the extra weight.
A Less Sturdy Design
While the traditional floor mounted toilet is a very sturdy design that will rarely break, the same can not be said about its wall hung cousin.
The fact is, that many bathroom walls are not designed to be able to support a mounted toilet. Before you even consider installing a wall hung toilet, be sure to check whether your walls are strong and solid. Even if they are, a certain amount of cautiousness should be observed. If you have kids playing around the bathroom, be sure they don’t jump on the toilet bowl, as it might break loose from the wall, possibly resulting in cracked porcelain and a damaged wall.
Repair Parts
If something does happen and you need to replace parts of your toilet, the bad news is that it will often be more expensive when you have a wall hung version. This is due to the toilet repair parts being more specialized in these designs, than in a standard floor mounted toilet.
As an example, let us assume that you need to replace a gasket. In this case, the specialized gasket used in a wall hung toilet will, typically, cost more than six times what the standard gasket used in a floor mounted toilet will.
Improved Visuals at a Price
The nitty gritty of the issue is that a wall hung toilets is a stylish option, but that this style comes at a price. Not only is the toilet more expensive to purchase, it is also more expensive to repair. Whether the improved visuals are worth the extra cost is up to you.
