What Types Of Kitchens Can’t Use A Cookbook Holder

Cookbook holders are a great fit for most styles of kitchen, but they unfortunately don’t work well in some.  I want to show you how to figure out if you are stuck with a kitchen like this.  Fortunately, fhere are some things that you can do in the case that you have one of these styles of kitchens, which we’ll also cover in this post.

Kitchens that don’t have a lot of counter space are going to be the obvious type that don’t work well with a cookbook holder.  There’s no sense in sacrificing preparation space for a cookbook holder!  Under cabinet holders are available, but are much more expensive than their stand alone counter parts.

Kitchens that are “L” shaped with the stove and the kitchen sink centered on both sides of the L also don’t work very well with a cookbook holder.  Putting it close to the stove runs the risk of melting the books binding from the heat and steam coming from the stove, and water from the sink is paper’s natural enemy!

So what do you do in a situation like this?  There are actually a lot of options.  If your L shaped kitchen has an open floor space you can use a movable cart to help you out with a cookbook holder and other tools.  For small kitchens, a white board works great to either tape a recipe to or write down the basics so you don’t need to reference the cookbook.  Under cabinet cookbook holders, which I mentioned above, will also work great as long as they aren’t too close to the stove.

Just because you have a small or odd shaped kitchen doesn’t mean that you can’t take full advantage of the benefits of a cookbook holder.  It just takes a bit more creativity and using your space wisely.
