My New Rice Cooker

Are you like me? Do you enjoy getting your hands on new kitchen devices? If so, why not buy a Zojirushi rice cooker? This is what I did yesterday. Then I made my first lot of new rice this morning. I have owned Zojirushi rice cookers for the last eight years. The first one was a second hand gift and at that time I had nothing to compare it to so did not really know if it was a good or bad machine. Looking back, it was actually very good.

But I chose to get a larger rice cooker, also made by Zojirushi, because for some reason I thought that if it was larger, 5.5 cups instead of 3 cups, it would be better. However for someone who lives alone, I do not really have the need for a family sized device. So I took the plunge and purchased the most expensive rice cooker I have ever bought. This is an Induction Heating machine which is supposed to cook every grain of rice to perfection. What I ate this morning was very close to that. The rice tasted great and was soft and light.

If you have never owned a rice cooker before, you may think I am mad going on about how great the rice tastes. However, I thought I knew what good rice was. But I am having to re-evaluate what I think of as good. I mean my breakfast today was great! And it is all just because I got a new rice cooker.
