Glass shelving furniture
Glass is becoming more popular in interior designs. Furniture that was traditionally made from solid wood has a rival in glass alternatives. Dining room tables have glass shelving underneath the glass tabletop surface which is entirely glass made with chrome legs for support and not a splinter of wood in sight.
Glass shelving is manufactured in many designs and is often color coordinated with your existing bathroom or kitchen. Glass shelve have to be made from toughened glass.
Shelves are often matched to mirror products for the bathroom. A contemporary interior design might include glass items in colors such as red, blue or even black. Clear glass shelves are popular and can to suit any setting.
Although you expect your glass to remain as good as new until the end of time (barring breakages) you do need to look after it. For your glass furniture to last many years it will require some care and maintenance. Glass will withstand dust and dirt and will clean up really well but care is needed in the cleaners we choose. Some cleaning agents will damage or scratch your glassware. Lime, acid and bleach based cleaners should be avoided. Buy a good quality non-abrasive glass cleaner.
Cleaning glass mirrored shelves
The reflective backing on a glass mirror should not come into contact with any cleaner. To clean a mirror apply the cleaning solution to the cleaning towel or cloth and never spray solutions directly onto the mirror as the solution may get in behind the glass and damage the backing, resulting in a useless mirror.
New developments in glass furniture
Apart from glass storage units, glass coffee table or dining table, sheet glass can now have images embedded into the glass during the manufacturing process. The opportunities are limitless. Your bathroom, shower and kitchen splash backs can be unique images of beautiful paintings or iconic images.
