Using a Lanyard Keychain Helps Not to Lose Keys

Sometimes, being so busy or engrossed with office work, school activities, and/or house chores make certain people forgetful. They tend to overlook particular details. Among the things usually ‘forgotten’ are keys of all sorts. They misplace, or even lose, drawer keys, car keys, locker keys, house keys, etc. If this is so, they then resort to using the spare keys, or have them duplicated; this may be a cycle, if they keep on losing keys.

The concept used in having a cord for somebody’s eyeglasses is the same one applied here. For keys to be securely fastened, a lanyard keychain is ideal to use. Lanyards are usually worn around the neck or wrist; thus, if keychains are worn any of these two ways, losing keys will not be a problem anymore.

Since there are various single-colored lanyards available in the market, color-coding of different keys may be done. A good start will be to have about two to five keys per lanyard, categorized per cluster of purpose. For instance, all bedroom drawer keys in one red wrist lanyard, and their spares in an also red neck lanyard. Then, all office keys in another pair, this time, blue. Furthermore, all living room keys in a yellow pair. And so on. It is good to classify them according to keys’ uses and colors for easy retrieval at anytime. Each color pair may then be labeled, even handwritten, for quick reference.

Whether to regularly ‘wear’ or bring the mentioned neck keychain, or the wrist keychain depends on the user or keys’ owner. Perhaps, if going to work or to school, the neck lanyard is more suitable. But, if going to the mall, or to the grocery store, the wrist lanyard is okay. Either way is perfect as long as its ‘partner’ lanyard keychain is left in a safe place at home.

A lanyard keychain may not be store-bought. It may just be a used ribbon, cord, or a braided shoelace, with the keys tied ‘safely’ together. What is more important is that they are firmly attached to a specific neck or wrist lanyard. And since this lanyard is worn, not placed inside a purse or pocket, losing such keys will be a remote possibility.
