Great Ways to Save Money on Outdoor Lighting

With the rising cost of electricity and many homes having to tighten their belts a little bit, everyone is looking twice at how much money they spend in electrical bills.  If you want to cut down your consumption a little bit, one thing that you can do is cut down on the amount of energy that you use in outdoor lighting.  There are several ways that you can do this and you’d be surprised at the money you can save!

The first way you can save money is by switching over to solar yard lighting.  Solar powered yard lights all contain a solar panel that they use to collect power from the sun and release it at night.  This means that you won’t have to pay any money at all in electric bills to use these lights!   You will need to place the lights in a sunny area, but it is a small price to pay for being able to use your lights without having to worry about costly electrical bills.

If you’d prefer to keep your existing lighting fixtures, one thing that you could do is switch to outdoor fluorescent lighting.  Outdoor fluorescent light bulbs can screw into the same socket that traditional incandescent bulbs do, so you won’t need to replace anything.  But, the lights burn for longer and use a fraction of the energy, saving you money on your electrical bills and bulb replacement.

If you want to replace your lights, but don’t want to go solar, another option that you have is to use LED landscape lighting.  These lights are a great option because they burn for years and years before they stop working and use a fraction of the energy of what even CFL bulbs use!  They’re a great addition to any lights that you have.

Just because you’re lighting up the outside of your home doesn’t mean that you should also be paying really high electrical bills.  Install any of these three types of lighting to start saving some money today!
