The Varying Styles of Umbrella Lights
Patio umbrellas are commonly used as protective shades on patios and in yards. Their large shades block out most of the sunlight to create a shaded spot underneath. While their abilities as shades may become useless after sundown, they can be repurposed as lights using a special kit. Patio umbrella light kits are available which can turn your umbrella shade into a outdoor light. Umbrella lights are weather resistant lights which are safe to use outdoors. Most allow the umbrella to be folded up without having to remove the lights beforehand.
For standard umbrellas, a single saucer light can work quite well. Umbrella saucer lights clip onto the umbrella pole in seconds. They usually employ a set of rechargeable batteries which are kept inside the saucer. Once turned on via a switch, the light can illuminate the table below. This light can be used to make a yard more inviting and fun to use at night. Changing the height of the saucer can alter the intensity and coverage of the light beam. Adjusting it to a lower level will increase the intensity but will reduce the diameter of the light circle.
String lights have also been applied to patio umbrella lights. These lights are more commonly used as accent pieces, as their light is more surreal in nature. Many light bulbs work together to create a star-scape appearance which is quite enjoyable to look at. The strings attach to the support bars of the canopy.
While more restrictive in selection, you can also buy an umbrella which is already lit. Pre-lit models are probably the easiest way to own an umbrella light if you do not already own an umbrella. Users can select from several colors and designs, including lights powered by the sun. Creative expression in lighting has never been easier.
