Best Places To Live In The USA
OK, I’m biased but I have to say one of the best places to live in the USA is on Big Pine Key in the state of Florida. Big Pine Key is one of the larger islands located in the Florida Keys. Although it has its own US Post Office it is not a town, village, or hamlet designated by a line on a surveyors map. Rather, it is a location that has its natural borders since it is surrounded by the sea.
On this beautiful island there are all the necessary businesses available for a person to receive products or services. This includes a building center, restaurants, churches, tropical nursery, ice cream parlor, grocery store, bank, and many others. The difference is that there isn’t an abundance of banks, restaurants, or churches. The businesses are limited in number, since customers living in the island community simply can’t support many duplicated companies.
Over the years many unusual tropical birds have migrated to Big Pine, which gives it a remarkable Caribbean atmosphere. When the eye of a hurricane crosses the Cuban mainland the tropical birds take flight thinking that the storm is over. When the back side of the hurricane comes the birds try to fly away from it, and end up flying in the hurricane eye as it moves northward toward the Florida Keys, only 90 miles away. As the storm crosses the Gulf Stream these tropical birds are getting tired and make for the first landfall they may find. When the hurricane eye passes over Big Pine Key the birds swoop down and take refuge in the many Australian Pine trees, palm trees, Lignum Vitea trees, or other rare tree species found on the islands. Then with hurricane David, striking South Florida many years ago, many rare tropical birds and animals were set free as pet shops on the Florida mainland were destroyed by high winds. In the early morning on Big Pine Key it is not unusual to see these many tropical birds foraging around for their morning breakfast. Big Pine Key is full of tropical character and is one of the best places to live in the United States.
